Salams everybody... How are you all doing ? It has been almost a year since my last update. As I had been busy with my MQE (Medical Qualifying Exam), and now I've got the result. I'm finally a doctor !!! Alhamdullillah.. dreams do come true. Just never give up.

I'm not sure wether is there anybody who still reading my blog. Lol. But I really appreciate any silent reader, either they stumble upon it or search for it, who could find my blog useful, less or more...still I'll keep sharing ! InsyaAllah.

As waiting to be posted to hospital, now I'm at Penang and off to home tomorrow morning. My eldest brother's wedding will be in 2 weeks at Malacca, and in 4 weeks at my home. So, lots and lots things need to be done. I have to be home and help my mother!

This new year brings new hope to everybody.... including me. Dreams and wishes to be fulfilled. All need lots of commitment and hard work. I wish all of you out there to never stop being the best of yourself for a great year ahead. Amin Ya Rab. Good Luck !

Off To Pulau Duyong !

This is totally not in my plan. It was actually present for my parents from my elder sis on account of the previous father's day. A night at Ri-yaz Heritage Resort and Spa at Pulau Duyong, Terengganu. BUT, my MOM asked Me and my younger bro to come along with them. She said the more, the merrier. Isn't it suppose to be both of them only ? OMG. I'm really not in the mood for holiday as my intensive course would be starting next week already !

This time my mom really insisted me...she even told me to bring some books along. and letting her down is the last thing I would do. Hence, I'm off to pulau duyong at the crack of dawn.

For those in honeymoon mood, this kind of place is really a 'must-go'. It's peaceful,having a beautiful garden view and full of nature. Totally romantic.

p/s : my younger bro even told me... as our parents are getting old, they just need nobody but only their kids to be with especially in holidays. So let's make them happy.

Reason for Good Deeds?

People always seek for reasons to do good deeds... I wonder why when somebody asking for help, you do not need to recalling memories of how good that people to you... or what have he done to you before... or how long have you known them. As once somebody asking you favours, just fulfill them if you can afford. No need reasons.... no need expectations... as God has sent them for us to do good deeds. May Allah bless us all.

Unless, if you're not in the place of helping them, try at least be polite to them. No disgusting voices, no screaming or even revealing uneasiness. Just smile, and refuse them. And of course, with sorry.

I'm not sure which world I'm living in as it really getting worse... when people do good things, only if it could benefit them too.

Who Would Help Us Down There

Once we die, we could not come back. Even if we beg, we pledge. Nothing would work. Obviously we want to come back to repent, to be better, to do better but only it would be too late. Still, there are three things that could help us down there.

1- Our recurring charity

2- Our knowledge, by which people would benefit

3- And pious son, who prays for us.

Our life span is unknown. Maybe tomorrow, next month, next year or some hours later? It's 'traditional' to think we would die when we get older. Why wait, just start prepare now...do more charity, make use of our expertise and skills to help and teach others and last but not least, upbring our kids with culture, wisdom and Islam along their way... so that they would appreciate us as their previous generation and at least could spare some du'a and prayers for us when we pass.

Today My Life Begins

My first day during practical at Kota Bharu Hospital was quite relaxing... Me and my friends did some round by ourself at the Surgical ward. Most of the patients were suffering from benign prostatic hyperplasia, BPH or 'ulughae' in kelantanese and inguinal hernia. What shocking me enough was an old man, having two hernias direct and indirect. Call me unexperienced, I never seen this kind before. He looked sick, wandering.. looking in one direction. Approaching him, I asked what was his job. Unsprisingly, he did all job in the world. From picking coconuts to catching and holding chickens at his barn. It is one of the risk factor of this disease. Doing heavy-lifting or heavy job for long period could cause your abdominal wall weakens which provoke the protrusion.

Another patient was post-operatively having a back swelling, abscess at the upper back. He suffered from diabetes mellitus and not compliance to medicine led to this complication. How unfortunate. My friend, who was a lecturer started doing his job, lecturing the patient. In 'a good way' of course.

Tomorrow, we will see more patients. What more I expect is that we can do some training to prepare for our coming exam. InsyaAllah... InsyaAllah.. InsyaAllah.. we will find our way.

p/s : BTW, my driving skills quite polished now. Call me fast and furious, pray to keep away from accidents.

Kelantan Book Fair 2011

After six times missing this occasion consecutively, I hope I could attend the book fair by this weekend. Yeay ! Those who live in Kelantan or nearby could spare some of your time to make this fair more happening. InsyaAllah.

It's almost nine months since I came back home. And I already have my favourite magazines which I wouldn't missed to buy monthly. They include Milenia Muslim, I-Magazine, I-Sihat and Iluv Islam newspaper. These copies are worth reading for your evening and weekends. I bet ya.

I still remember when I studied overseas, I hardly had these kind of great books. The only source of good knowledge and info come solely from internet. Back then, I missed holding books or newspapers..reading it words by words while sipping tea and enjoying the Pak Awang's garden's view. Lol. Alhamdulillah, now I appreciate it even more.

The passion of reading is very overwhelming. From newspapaers, magazines, novels, fiction books, short-stories, poems...There are a wide variety of story types, everything from historical fictions to visions of the future to spy novels to horror. They are all in pieces of papers that could drown you in imagination, take you travel through time and places. How magnificent is the power of reading. It could sharpen your senses and your perception to this whole world.

Pak Awang's Garden

So my mom is addicted to this whole gardening thing...even making me to keep all those polybags filled with soil, which she just bought worth RM 100 for a lorry. See how serious could she be.... Let alone her. Me also become obsessed with it. Even on bed, my mind kept thinking about it. On how can we decorate it...how we can manage the space for more vegetables could be grown..keep asking mom what's this and that plant. So hobbies are inherited =)

Just few days back we got the first taste of fresh vegetables from our very own garden. It's a taste of disbelief, satisfaction and a sense of accomplishment. Talk about exaggerating. Apart from chillies, we mainly have green vegetables, pineapples and bananas. More to come ;>

Our garden is named after Pak Awang. When my mom was young, she loved to listen to a programme on the radio, telling tips and benefits from gardening. It's called 'Pak Awang's Garden'. Hence the name of our garden. =)

Lots of benefits from gardening indeed.

1. A great way to relieve stress.

2. Simple exercise for outdoor actvities, exposing to natural air and refocused on a pleasant activity.

3. A way of ensuring a continous supply for fresh vegetables to consume.

4. It helps to recover more quickly from illnesses. It's like gardening is just what the doctor ordered !

5. An art of being patience. As gardening not produce instanteous results, gardener need to wait for the reward. From soiling till harvesting, it requires some time to endure.

Modern contraceptive pills have evolved into a much safer option for birth control.

IF one were a fly on the wall listening in on a typical mother-daughter conversation, one might hear the following:

Mother: Dear, now that you are married, when are you going to have kids?

Daughter: Hmmm, maybe in a few years, after I’ve enjoyed married life for a while.

In addition to protecting women against unplanned pregnancies, the Pill can also reduce ovulation pain, menstrual cramps, and PMS symptoms.

Mother: Don’t wait too long, you’re already 30 and the clock is ticking ...

Daughter: Don’t worry, I have my family planning covered. I think the Pill is the most convenient way.

Mother: Are you sure you want to go on the Pill? You might not be able to conceive when you are ready to be pregnant!

The mother just stated one of the most common myths concerning the contraceptive Pill. To help you separate myth from fact, here’s a list of the top 10 myths surrounding the contraceptive pill.

Myth 1: The Pill affects fertility

Fact 1: Most modern oral contraceptive pills contain a very low dose of hormones compared to the pills of the 1960s and 70s, and women can rapidly return to their pre-existing level of fertility upon discontinuing the Pill.

Fertility is affected by age. Many women take the Pill as a form of contraception during their younger years. However, by the time they decide to be off the Pill in order to conceive, their increased age has reduced their chances of pregnancy. This practice may contribute to the false perception that the Pill affects fertility.

In fact, the Pill actually protects women against ectopic pregnancies and fibroids, conditions which may have a negative impact on fertility.

Myth 2: The Pill causes weight gain

Fact 2: Some women may feel bloated when they start a new oral contraceptive. But this rarely exceeds a few pounds and this typically improves within a few months. Many clinical studies have found no relationship between modern low dose oral contraceptives and weight gain.

The feeling of “bloatedness” is due to water retention, which occurs in the week before menstruation and is commonly believed to be caused by the oestrogen content of the contraceptive pill.

Today, oral contraceptive pills that contain the newer progestin called drospirenone can directly prevent water retention that contributes to the weight gain associated with the pill.

Myth 3: The Pill causes cancer

Fact 3: False! Oral contraceptive pills actually protect women from ovarian and uterine cancer. When researchers from Harvard Medical School analysed 20 studies on oral contraceptive use and ovarian cancer, they found that the risk of ovarian cancer actually decreased with increasing duration of oral contraceptive use (10-12% decrease in risk after a year of use, and about 50% decrease after five years of use).

The use of the pill has also been shown to significantly reduce the risk of endometrial cancer. This protective effect also increases with the length of time the pill is used, and continues for many years after a woman stops using oral contraceptive pills.

It can however, very slightly increase the risk of breast cancer. As breast cancer is not common in women under 40 years of age, the excess number of breast cancer diagnoses in current and recent contraceptive pill users is small in relation to overall risk of breast cancer in the population.

Myth 4: Women who are on the Pill for a long time need to take a “break” once in while

Fact 4: There is no reason for a healthy woman to take a break from using oral contraceptives. Oral contraceptives are one of the most effective contraceptive options available, and taking a “Pill break” will increase your risk of having an unplanned pregnancy if you are sexually active.

Myth 5: All oral contraceptives are the same

Fact 5: There are many oral contraceptives available to women today, with each offering different benefits. The newer 24/4 regimen pill with the progestin called drospirenone, is the only oral contraceptive that is clinically proven to give women relief from the emotional symptoms of premenstrual syndrome, reduce weight gain, and other physical symptoms due to water retention as well as improve acne, in addition to effectively preventing pregnancy.

It is important to speak with your healthcare provider when deciding which product and method of contraception is best suited for your needs or health condition.

Myth 6: Taking the Pill past the age of 40 is risky

Fact 6: The Pill can be taken until a woman reaches menopause. However, female smokers over the age of 35, or women with high blood pressure and diabetes have their heart disease and stroke risks elevated if they take the Pill.

One should consult a healthcare provider to determine the method of contraception best suited for one’s health condition.

Myth 7: The Pill causes birth defects

Fact 7: To date, over 100 million women worldwide have benefited from use of the Pill and enjoy a better quality of life. There is no evidence that links use of the Pill with birth defects.

Myth 8: The Pill is only used for contraception

Fact 8: In addition to protecting women against unplanned pregnancies, the Pill is also effective in reducing ovulation pain, menstrual cramps, and PMS symptoms. It can also reduce the risk of anaemia, a condition common in women experiencing heavy periods.

The Pill also protects women against ectopic pregnancy, osteoporosis, ovarian cysts, and ovarian cancer.

Myth 9: Taking the Pill will delay menopause

Fact 9: Taking the Pill does not delay or affect the onset of menopause in a woman. The average age of menopause in women is between 45 and 55 years.

Myth 10: Antibiotics affect the efficacy of the Pill

Fact 10: The contraceptive efficacy of the Pill is not affected even when it is taken with antibiotics. However, you should always inform your doctor of the medications that you are taking before he or she prescribes you any additional medication such as antibiotics.

The Pill is one of the most effective and convenient methods of contraception available today. Whilst each woman needs to determine her choice of contraception according to her lifestyle and needs, she needs to be equipped with the right facts to manage her family planning when the need arises. Benefits Learning New Language

A saalik-(traveller on the spiritual path) is recommended to recite this salawat 4444 times in his lifetime.

Happy New Year everybody... Let's start this great coming year with fasting ;>

Duties of the Month of Muharram:

1. It is the best of months for general voluntary fasts, after Ramadan.

2. It is especially recommended to fast the 10th of Muharram (known as the Day of `Ashura’), with a day before it or after it. [Ibn Abidin, Radd al-Muhtar, quoting Kasani’s al-Bada’i`]

3. It is also virtuous to give in charity on this day.

The Virtues of Fasting in the Month of Muharram and Its First Ten Days

Muslim reported from Abu Hurayra (ra), that the Prophet (s) said, “The best of fasts after the month of Ramadan are in the Month of Allah, which you call Muharram. And the best of prayer after the obligatory prayer is the night prayer.” [Muslim, 1163]

This refers to general voluntary fasts according to Imam Ibn Rajab (Allah have mercy on him): These are best in the month of Muharram, just as the best general voluntary prayer is night prayer.

The virtue and honor of this month can be attested to by the fact that the Prophet (s) called it, ‘the Month of Allah.’ (Shahr Allah) Such ascription is only made by Allah to the most special of His creation, such as the ascription of the Prophets Muhammad, Ibrahim, Ishaq, Ya`qub (‘aleihimus Salam) and others to his slavehood, and His ascription of the House (Ka`ba) and the camel to himself.

Given that Allah ascribed fasting, between all spiritual works, to Himself [saying, “It is Mine,”] it was suitable that this month, which is also ascribed to Allah, be selected for this particular form of worship.

Fasting is a secret between the servant and his Lord. This is why Allah Mighty and Exalted says, [in the divine hadith (hadith qudsi)], “Every action of the son of Adam is his, except for fasting. It is Mine, and it is I who reward it.” [Bukhari and Muslim, from Abu Hurayra]

The Prophet (s) also said, “The fasting person has two joys: one when he breaks his fast, and the other when he meets his Lord.” [Muslim]

Night Prayer

As for voluntary night prayer (qiyam al-layl), it is superior to voluntary prayer during the day because it is closer to secrecy, and nearer to sincerity (ikhlas).

Allah Most High said, “Lo! the vigil of the night is (a time) when impression is more keen and speech more certain.” [Qur’an, 73.9]

This is because the time of the night vigil (tahajjud) is the best of times for voluntary prayer, and the closest a servant gets to his Lord. It is a time when the doors of the skies are opened, supplications answered, and needs fulfilled.

Allah Most High has praised those who wake up at night in His remembrance, supplication, seeking forgiveness, and intimate entreating (munajat), saying, “Who forsake their beds to cry unto their Lord in fear and hope, and spend of that We have bestowed on them. No soul knows what is kept hid for them of joy, as a reward for what they used to do.” [Qur’an, 32.16-17]

And, “Or he who pays adoration in the watches of the night, prostrate and standing, bewaring of the Hereafter and hoping for the mercy of his Lord? Say: Are those who know equal with those who know not? But only those of understanding will pay heed.” [Qur’an, 39.9]

And He said to His Prophet (s), “And some part of the night awake for it, as voluntary worship for you. It may be that thy Lord will raise thee to a praised estate.” [Qur’an, 17.79]

It has been said that those who worship at night will enter Paradise without reckoning, and that standing in night prayer shortens the length of one’s Standing on the Day of Judgment.

This is why the Prophet (s) said, “Stick to night prayer, for it was the way of the righteous before you. Night prayer is a means of closeness to Allah Most High, of expiating for bad deeds, avoiding sins, and keeping away illness from one’s body.” [Tirmidhi (3543], Bayhaqi, and others; it is a sound (hasan) hadith]

Similarly, it has been related that fasting is a means for good health. The Prophet (s) is reported to have said, “Fast, and you shall have good health.” [Ahmad, from Abu Hurayra]

Lovers have no time more joyous than when they are alone in entreating their Beloved. This is the healing for their hearts, and the great thing that they could long for.

This is why Abu Sulayman al-Darani would say, “The people of the night find more joy than the people of distraction (lahw) in their distractions. Were it not for the night, I would not like to remain living.”

The Day of `Ashura’: The Tenth of Muharram

It is mentioned in Bukhari and Muslim from Ibn Abbas (Allah be pleased with him and his father) that he was asked about fasting the Day of `Ashura’ [10th of Muharram]. He said, “I did not see the Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace be upon him) fast a day while more avid to seek its virtue than this day,” meaning the Day of `Ashura’.” [Bukhari (2006), and Muslim (1132)].

The Day of `Ashura’ has great virtue, and tremendous sanctity (hurma). The virtue of fasting it was known among the Prophets (peace be upon them all). Both Prophet Nuh and Prophet Musa (peace be upon them both) fasted it.

The Prophet (Allah bless him & give him peace) used to fast this day even in Mecca, though he had not yet ordered others to do so, as mentioned in both Bukhari and Muslim. [Bukhari (2002), Muslim (1125)]

When he migrated to Medina, and found the People of the Book fasting this day and venerating it, he ordered the Muslims to fast it, and encouraged it so much that even the children would fast it.

It has been reported in both Bukhari and Muslim from Ibn Abbas (Allah be pleased with him), that, “When the Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace be upon him) reached Medina, he found the Jews fasting the Day of `Ashura’, so he asked them, ‘What is this day you are fasting?’ They said, ‘This is a tremendous day. Allah saved Musa and his people on this day and drowned Pharaoh and his people. Musa fasted it out of thanks, so we fast it too.’ The Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace be upon him) said, ‘And we are more deserving of Musa than you are.’ So he fasted this day, and ordered that it be fasted.” [Bukhari (2004) and Muslim (1130)]

At the end of his life, the Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace be upon him) made the determination not to fast this day alone, but with another day [f: either before or after it], in order to be different from the People of the Book.

It has been reported in the Sahih of Imam Muslim (Allah have mercy on him), also from Ibn Abbas (Allah be pleased with him) that, “When the Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace be upon him) fasted the Day of `Ashura’ and ordered his companions to fast it, they said, ‘O Messenger of Allah! This is a day that the Jews and Christians venerate.’ So the Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace be upon him) said, ‘When next year comes – if Allah wills – we will fast the Ninth [of Muharram with it].’ But the next year did not come before the Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace be upon him) passed away.” [Muslim (1134), Abu Dawud (2445)]

And it is reported in the Musnad of Imam Ahmad (Allah have mercy on him), from Ibn Abbas (Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace) said, “Fast the Day of `Ashura’ and be different from the Jews by fasting a day before it or a day after it.” [Ahmad]

Giving in Charity on the Day of `Ashura’

It has been reported from Abd Allah ibn `Amr ibn al-`As (Allah be pleased with him), that “Whoever fasts `Ashura’ it is as if he has fasted the entire year. And whoever gives charity this day it is like the charity of an entire year.”

Some of the Virtues of the Day of `Ashura’

It is a day in which Allah forgave an entire people. Tirmidhi relates that the Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace) said to a man, “If you want to fast a month after Ramadan, then fast Muharram, for it has a day in which Allah forgave an entire people, and He turns to others in repentance in.” [Tirmidhi (841)]

And Allah alone gives success.

At some point in the various journeys we embark on in our lives, we get to a part where we feel like giving up. Sometimes we give up before we even start and other times we give up just before we are about to make that huge break-through that we have been putting so much effort in to achieve.

I have created this list of 22 reasons why you should never give up and I hope that you will find it before you give up, so that I can inspire you to keep going!

1- As Long As You Are Alive Anything Is Possible
The only valid excuse you have to give up is if you are dead. As long as you are alive (and healthy and free) you have the choice to keep trying until you finally succeed.

2- Be Realistic
The chance of mastering something the first time you do it is almost non-existent. Everything takes time to learn and you will make mistakes. Learn from them.

3- Michael Jordan
Arguably the best basketball player of all time. He attributes his success to all his failures. He just never gave up even when he knew he had missed over 300 shots and had missed the winning shot of the game many times. Every time he got knocked down he got back up again.

Lance was diagnosed with serious cancer that had spread throughout his entire body. He had cancer cells the size of golf balls in his lungs. Despite all odds he overcame the cancer and set out to win the Tour de France 6 Consecutive years in a row.

5- Muhammad Ali
“Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee”. Muhammad Ali is one of the best boxers the world has ever known. He suffered only 5 losses while having 56 wins and was the first boxer to win the lineal heavyweight championship three times. This is a guy who literally knows how to get knocked down and get back up.

6- The Man Who Created The Marathon
Very long ago an Athenian herald was sent to Sparta to get help when the Persians landed in Greece. It was said that he ran 240km in 2 days and after that he ran 40km to announce the victory of the Greeks only to collapse and die on the spot from exhaustion. If you ever feel like things are difficult, imagine what it would be like to run 240km in 2 days. (Don’t try that because you might die from it, but use it as an inspiration).

Campaigned for justice and freedom in his South Africa. Spent 20 years in jail for his opposition to apartheid. On release he healed the wounds of apartheid by his magnanimous attitude toward his former political enemies.

10- You Are Strong
You are stronger than you think. One little setback is not enough to stop you from achieving your goals. Neither are 10 or 100 or 1000 setbacks.

11- Prove Yourself
You don’t want to be known as someone that is weak and gives up. Go out there and prove yourself to the world and to yourself. You CAN and WILL achieve what you set out to do. The only time you fail is when you give up.

12- Has It Been Done Before?
If someone else can do it then so can you. Even if it is only one other person in the world that has achieved what you have set out to achieve, that should be reason enough for you to never give up.

Right now there are many people who are in a worse situation and environment than you are right now. Are you thinking about giving up running 5 miles a week? Think about the people who are unable to even walk and how much they would give to be able to run 5 miles every day.

When you achieve whatever you set out to achieve you can use your success to make a difference to the world or other peoples lives.

18- Get Rich or Die Trying
Like Fiddy (50 cent) says, “Get rich or die trying”. 50 Cent is rich, he made it (although he did get shot 9 times). Face your fears and don’t take the easy way out by giving up.

19- Let The Haters Hate
There will always be haters. There will always be plenty of naysayers and people who try to tear you down. Don’t pay attention to them and don’t take what they say to heart. Let the haters hate and you keep believing in yourself.

20- You Deserve To Be Happy
Don’t ever let anybody tell you otherwise. You deserve to be happy and you deserve to have success. Keep that mindset and never give up until you reach your destination!

21- Inspire Others
Be an inspiration to others by refusing to give up. Who knows what someone else can achieve because you never gave up and in turn inspired them not to give up.

22- You Are So Close

As my exam just few days left, I couldn't attend any Maher Zain's showcase or even watch his live interview show on TV. It's really frustrating. I wish he could come back for a bigger concert next year, InsyaAllah.

As for me reaching the impossible of passing the exam, I put my whole trust in God. May Almighty Allah make it easy for me and friends to face this. InsyaAllah...Ya Allah, give us strength to face any consequences and any result that we would achieve.

Ramadhan at Home After Six Years

Some more days left for Ramadhan...Fastest Ramadhan for me. Lots of things happened, lots of things to be settled and prepared. For this Rmadhan, I pray nothing but for a success and happiness ahead. I wish for God's love for everyday of my life, never to be left by Him, as He is my only saviour.

After six years celebrating Ramdhan abroad, I feel nothing but grateful to be here in Malaysia. This is my country, my hometown. Alhamdulillah... I can do Tarawih prayers in Qaryah Ramadhan, which I suppose one of the best experience, break fasting with my parents, going to Bazaar Ramadhan, which full of asian varieties of food. Those that I missed in six years. And now I'm collecting back all the memories. Comparing it from now and then. After all, this is the best place on earth. Alhamdulillah 'ala kulli hal.

My apologies for not updating my blog recently. I'm preparing for an exam in October, which needed lots of prayers and lucks. Wish you all could pray for me, and my friends' success, for us to build a great future ahead. May our prayers be heard by the Almighty, in this Holy month of Ramadhan. Amin Ya Rabbal 'Alamin.

May this Ramdhan builds the better of us. Amiin.

To Do List

So for now... I will just need to fulfill all 'to do list' which most of them need some physical moves. Sigh. Like cleaning my 'cockroachy' room, my 'polished' toilet.Lol. And giving away some unnecessary stuff.

It's summer over here. Everybody looks at me with 'that' look, you know, when you feel that you're kind of 'alien' to them. Yeah yeah, I'm all covered from head to toe in this hot summer. So what ? Couldn't I show a little bit love to God, showing how devoted am I to my belief. And can you imagine, I'd been called 'terrorist' twice already. Wow.. this is some kind of honour. I feel like I'm going to Jihad or something. Lol. But still, I just gave them some smiles. They're just some ignorants. You don't need to be stirred. Or hurt. Forgive them and pray that they would have some time to take a look about Islam one day. InsyaAllah.

Ramadhan is coming after some weeks ! I wish everybody to be prepared ! Take this chance to do better and better. InsyaAllah. Still some more days left here in Odessa, about three days. Wow...hardly can believe I'm leaving this place. A place of memory. =)

Healthiest Food On Earth

1. Berries
All berries are low in sugar and high in fiber. Blueberries have been shown to increase memory in lab studies, and raspberries and strawberries are loaded with ellagic acid, a powerful antioxidant that seems to have some anti-cancer properties, according to the American Cancer Society.

2. Beans
Beans are extremely high in fiber, which helps to control weight, prevent or manage diabetes and blood sugar, and may help prevent colon cancer and protect against heart disease. The National Institute of Medicine recommends 25-38 grams of fiber a day. The average American gets only 4-11 grams. One cup of beans provides 11-17 grams.

3. Nuts
Some of the largest and most important long-term studies of diet and health have shown that eating nuts several times a week is consistent with a risk of heart attack and heart disease that is 30%-50% lower than the general population. Just one ounce of nuts-almonds, macadamia, Brazil , walnuts, pecans-eaten three to five times a week seems to be the magic number.

4. Wild Salmon
Fish is the ultimate anti-aging food. Cold-water fatty fish like wild salmon, sardines, mackerel and herring contain omega-3 fats that protect the brain and the heart, improve mood, and lower blood pressure and triglycerides.

5. Raw Milk
Raw, organic milk nearly always comes from grass-fed cows and contains high levels of cancer-fighting CLA (conjugated linolenic acid) as well as a rich assortment of vitamins, minerals and beneficial bacteria (like Lactobacillus acidophilus)

6. Grass-Fed
Meat Meat from grass-fed cows has a much different fat profile than ordinary supermarket meat: high in omega-3s, lower in potentially harmful omega-6s and loaded with CLA, a kind of fat known for its anti-cancer activity. A superb source of protein and vitamin B12, it's also missing the antibiotics, steroids and hormones found in the meat that comes from feedlot farms.

7. Eggs
Considered by many to be nature's most perfect food, the egg is high in protein and relatively low in calories. The yolk contains choline, one of the most important nutrients for the brain, as well as lutein and xeazanthin, two critical nutrients for eye health. Brassica Vegetables Cabbage, Brussels sprouts, broccoli and kale all contain plant compounds called indoles that help reduce the risk of cancer. In addition to a stunning range of vitamins and minerals, they also contain sulforaphane, an important plant chemical that helps the body detoxify health-damaging chemicals.

8. Apples
Not only do they keep the doctor away, they also appear to do the same for lung cancer, diabetes and asthma. An apple contains five grams of fiber and a rich blend of nutrients including the bone-building vitamin K and the anti-inflammatory nutrient quercetin. And there's no better way to control your appetite than an apple eaten about half an hour before a big meal.

9. Onions and Garlic
In an impressive number of published studies, the consumption of onions and garlic has demonstrated protective effects against stomach, prostate and esophageal cancer. Along with broccoli, tea and apples, onions and garlic are among a select group of foods found to reduce mortality from heart disease by 20%.

10. Pomegranate Juice
Called "a natural Viagra" by researchers at Tel Aviv University , pomegranate juice is loaded with antioxidants. Studies show it can reduce blood pressure and plaque in the arteries. New research indicates it also slows the progression of tumors.. Four to eight ounces a day is highly recommended.

11. Green Tea
Though all teas are great for you, green tea has a unique profile of plant chemicals that have anti-cancer activity. It's now fairly established that green tea may help prevent the following types of cancers in humans: bladder, colon, esophagus, pancreas, rectum and stomach. If that's not enough, it also appears to help with weight control.

Dhuha Prayer - Our Everyday Well Being

My mom always remind me to perform Dhuha prayer. Since I was on my first time leaving home for college. It was about seven years ago.. and till now Alhamdulillah I would try my best to spare my five minutes to perform this sunnah prayer.

Dhuha means morning, mid-morning, or late morning. It's usually performed from sunrise time till before Zuhur prayer. This prayer is muakkad : means emphasized sunnah. Thus, never take it easy.

These are collections of hadiths that I've found, showing how essential this prayer could be.

One of the most complete collections of hadiths on Salat al-Duha is in Nayl al-Awtar (2:73-74): Kitab al-Salat: Salat al-Tatawwu`: Salat al-Duha:

- The Prophet (saws) said: "Whoever prays the dawn prayer in congregation then waits patiently until he offers the Duha prayer, there shall be for him the reward of a pilgrim for both the major and minor pilgrimages, complete and not missing anything." Narrated from `Utba ibn `Abd by al-Tabarani and confirmed by a similar narration from Abu Umama in Sunan Abi Dawud. I first heard this hadith from Mawlana al-Shaykh Husayn al-Kurdi, in the Maqam of his Shaykh, Mawlana al-Shaykh `Abd Allah al-Daghistani- Allah sanctify their secrets and bless our Shaykh Mawlana al-Shaykh Nazim al-Haqqani.

- The Prophet (saws) also said: "Whoever prays the Fajr prayer then sits in his place of prayer remembering Allah until sunrise, then prays two rak`ats of Duha, Allah shall make him forbidden to the Fire, nor shall it touch him nor consume him." Narrated from al-Hasan ibn `Ali by al-Bayhaqi.

- The Prophet (saws) also said: "Your Lord said: 'O son of Adam, pray for Me four rak`ats at the beginning of the day and I shall take care of your needs the rest of it.'" Narrated from Nu`aym ibn Hammar by Abu Dawud, Ahmad, and al-Darimi; and from Abu Dharr or Abu al-Darda' by al-Tirmidhi (hasan gharib). Al-`Iraqi said: "The beginning of the day is the dawn and so is the time of sunrise, the latter being the apparent meaning of this narration, those four rak`ats being Salat al-Duha." In Tarh al-Tathrib, which contains probably the most thorough discussion on the topic (3:60-72).

- The Prophet (saws) said: "Whoever gets up when the sun is before his eyes, performs a thorough ablution then stands and prays two rak`ats, his sins are forgiven as when his mother gave birth to him." Narrated by Abu Ya`la as cited by Shaykh `Abd Allah Siraj al-Din in the chapter on Salat al-Duha of his book al-Salat fi al-Islam (p. 129).

Those Who Have Wisdom

Dzikr of Allah is the most excellent act of Allah's servants and is stressed over a hundred times in the Holy Qur'an.

It is the most praiseworthy work to earn Allah's pleasure, the most effective weapon to overcome the enemy, and the most deserving of deeds in reward. It is the flag of Islam, the polish of hearts, the essence of the science of faith, the immunization against hypocrisy, the head of worship, and the key of all success.There are no restrictions on the modality, frequency, or timing of dzkir whatsoever. The restrictions on modality pertain to certain specific obligatory acts which are not the issue here, such as Salat.

The Shari`a is clear and everyone knows what they have to do. Indeed, the Prophet said that the People of Paradise will only regret one thing: not having made enough dzikr in the world! Are not those who are making up reasons to discourage others from making dzikr afraid of Allah in this tremendous matter?

Allah says in His holy Book: "O Believers, make abundant mention of ALLAH!" (33:41)

And He mentions of His servants "Those who remember their Lord standing, and sitting, and lying on their sides" (3:191), in other words at all times of the day and night.

He said (3:190-191): The creation of heaven and earth and the changes of night and days are signs for people who have wisdom : - consider who is described as having wisdom --Those who remember (and recite and call) Allah standing up, sitting, and lying on their sides"

The Prophet said: "If your hearts were always in the state that they are in during dzikr, the angels would come to see you to the point that they would greet you in the middle of the road." Muslim narrated it.

Imam Nawawi in his Sharh sahih muslim commented on this hadith saying: "This kind of sight is shown to someone who persists in meditation (muraqaba), reflection (fikr), and anticipation (iqbal) of the next world."

Mu`adh ibn Jabal said that the Prophet also said: "The People of Paradise will not regret except one thing alone: the hour that passed them by and in which they made no remembrance of Allah."

Allah placed His remembrance above prayer in value by making prayer the means and remembrance the goal. He said:

"He is successful who purifies himself, and remembers the name of his Lord, and so prays." (87:14-15)

"So establish prayer for My remembrance." (20:14)

On the day after tomorrow, at 7. 15 am at the Anatomy Hall, me and the whole final year students will be taking Krok exams. 200 questions in 3 hours. I could feel the tension now. Seriously I just wanna pass. My whole medical degree depends upon it. I hope all my hardship, my endless tries (which I think would never be enough), my 'never give up' motto, my fight against laziness would be paid. InsyaALLAH.... I really wish you anybody out there could pray for my success in this exam. I'm really scared to death. =(

The Real Struggle

When I first stumbled onto this hadith, I was quite surprised. I thought the real excellent struggle would be defending in the war or something. But then, I think it's true it's really hard to control ourselves.

When we in hurtful situation, after breaking up for instance we would be depressed and down. Hopeless... seemingly hoping to die. When we get too much happy, we would be beyond control. Euphoric even..When we get angry, we would be cursing people, saying unneceesry things.

All we gotta do is control ourselves ! In every single situation we might be gotten into. Life is too short. Let's make it the best as we could. InsyaAllah.

p/s : It's also hard to control ourselves from eating much while on diet. Sigh.

Paediatrics is Over !

My paediatrics cycle just over yesterday. I passed 'history taking-diagnosing patient' test and practical exams. Alhamdulillah, more or less, I think I did good (especially in practical). Lol. But I screwed 'meningeal sigs' questions. Sigh. I never expected that question would come out and I did tremble. Oh, feel pity to myself.

So, for my course to finish I just need to attend three more cycles- Hygiene, Professional Medicines and Tuberculosis. Fighting, Fighting. 3 more to go !

As this is my last spring in 6 years, I appreciate it a little bit more. Enjoying the blossoming flowers and the greenery view. I was expecting my close friend from Peru to come next month. But only last night she said she couldn't come due to her operation :( I really pray her operation would go well. InsyaAllah.

By the way, this April is always a special month for me. As two special people were born in this month - my second elder brother and my sweathearted mother. I really wish both of them a blessed blessed life ahead and wishing them all the happiness in the world and the next. Ameen Ya Rabbal 'Alamin.....

As we grow older, we become more mature. On how we solving things, on how we look beyond things, and on how we learn from everyday's life. But still, sometimes when danger approaches, we lose the balance, tremble a little and questions keep coming. Don't we realized that we already got the answers from the Holy Quran, the best guidance ever. Come, let's check it out.

Whenever we're in bad situation, our minds would fly to Him. Wandering why should He test us like this? What's there to be learnt ? Is there any mistakes we did that brought us in this situation ?

"Do the people think that they will be left to say, "We believe" and they will not be tried? But We have certainly tried those before them, and Allah will surely make evident those who are truthful, and He will surely make evident the liars." (Al-Ankabut,2-3)

Why don't I get what I want ?

"Fighting has been enjoined upon you while it is hateful to you. But perhaps you hate a thing and it is good for you; and perhaps you love a thing and it is bad for you. And Allah Knows, while you know not." (Al-Baqarah,216)

How could it be this hard?

"Allah does not charge a soul except [with that within] its capacity. It will have [the consequence of] what [good] it has gained, and it will bear [the consequence of] what [evil] it has earned. "Our Lord, do not impose blame upon us if we have forgotten or erred. Our Lord, and lay not upon us a burden like that which You laid upon those before us. Our Lord, and burden us not with that which we have no ability to bear. And pardon us; and forgive us; and have mercy upon us. You are our protector, so give us victory over the disbelieving people." (Al-Baqarah,286)

Feeling sad and hopeless?

"So lose not heart, nor fall into despair: For you must gain mastery if you are true in Faith." (Al-Imran,139)

How can I face this ?

"O you who believe! Persevere in patience and constancy; vie in such perseverance; strengthen each other; and fear Allah. that you may prosper." (Al-Imran,200)

"And seek help through patience and prayer, and indeed, it is difficult except for the humbly submissive [to Allah ]" (Al-Baqarah, 45)

What's awaited to reward me from this ?

"Indeed, Allah has purchased from the believers their lives and their properties [in exchange] for that they will have Paradise. They fight in the cause of Allah , so they kill and are killed. [It is] a true promise [binding] upon Him in the Torah and the Gospel and the Qur'an. And who is truer to his covenant than Allah ? So rejoice in your transaction which you have contracted. And it is that which is the great attainment. (At-Taubah,111)

Yesterday was the International Women's Day, a big celebration over here in Ukraine. All women were greeted and celebrated. One of the great thing about Ukraine =)

You would see almost every guy would holding flowers around..and those jewelleries shop full of male customers. Ohh... Women say this day is bolshe chem turism. Lol.

Talking about women, they are very special creations... They are our mothers, our sisters, our idols. They mean everything to us.

Woman was made from the rib of man, She was not created from his head to top him, Nor from his feet to be stepped upon, She was made from his side to be close to him, From beneath his arm to be protected by him, Near his heart to be loved by him.

Exam Just Around The Corner

My niece and nephews that I've always been missing of.

Me having a tea break. My final is very soon. Two more months to come. But still couldn't stop missing home. Spring officially comes. My last spring, the sixth one to be exact. May this spring would be the most beautiful spring ever in my life. Ameen Ya Rab.

Talking about patience. I would never noticed how essential the power of patience could be, till now. Friendship in my life, hardly could be great. Whenever rain comes, I need to be prepared. Mentally and emotionally as well. Beware how my shoes could be wet, dirtied, or even worse whole clothes affected. Umbrella on my side. My boot is on. Let the abaya feel the wet, let it muddy, but still inside in, I'm all well secured.

Verily, man is in loss, except those who believe and do good deeds and encourage one another towards truth and encourge one another towards patience. (104:2-3)

The power of patience could never be denied. Whenever they throw stones at you, you give them fllowers...you give them fruits for them to realize.... How their actions on you, do not affect you at all, even grant you more reward in Jannah, and even make you a better person in facing Almighty God's tests.

Patience could be multiple of Hukum, depends on the situations :

Wajib Sabr:
1. Patience in doing the fard,
2. Patience in avoiding the haram, and
3. Patience in times of fitnah.

Haram Sabr:
1. Patience in abstaining from food and drink til death,
2. Patience from eating haram meat when it is a necessity for sustaining life (only so much as is necessary to sustain the life)
3. Patience in refraining from begging (For this one: Ahmad said it is haram and Shafaii said in life and death instances, it is a must).
4. Patience in enduring things which lead to death (example: snakes, fire), and
5. Patience in the time of fitnah -- when Muslims are fighting.

Patience in Islam is one of the best and most valuable virtues of life.

Through patience, a Muslim believes that an individual can grow closer to Allah and thus attain true peace. It is also stressed in Islam, that Allah is with those who are patient, more specifically during suffering.

Some of the Quran verses about patience urge Muslims to "seek Allah's help with patient perseverance and prayer" (2:45) and "give glad tidings to those who patiently persevere" (2:155-157).

The Quran states that Muslims should "Persevere in patience and constancy" (3:200) and "be steadfast in patience" (11:115).

p/s: So dear readers, let us all be patient, in whatsoever the situation we are all in. for "No one will be granted such goodness except those who exercise patience and self-restraint, none but persons of the greatest good fortune." (41:35). Subhanallah.

The Tears of Rasulullah

Suddenly, there was a person said salam.

“May I come in?” he asked.

But Fatimah did not allow him enter the room.
I’m sorry, my father is ill,” said Fatimah turned back and closed the door.

She went back to her father who had opened his eyes and asked Fatimah,

“Who was he, my daughter?”
“I don’t know, my father. It was the first time for me to see him,” Fatimah said gently.

Then, Rasulullah looked at his daughter with trembled look, as if he wanted
to reminisce about every part of her daughter’s face.

“Know one thing! He is who erases the temporary pleasure; he is who separates the companionship in the world.

He is the death angel,” said Rasulullah .

Fatimah bore the bomb of her cry. The death angel came toward him,

But Rasulullah asked why Jibril did not come along with him.

Then, Jibril was called. Jibril was ready in the sky to welcome the soul of
Habibullah and the leader of the earth.

“O Jibril, explain me about my rights in front of ALLAH?” Rasulullah asked with a weakest voice.
“The doors of sky has opened, the angels are waiting for your soul.”
“All jannats open widely waiting for you,” Jibril said.

But, in fact, those all did not make Rasulullah relieve, his eyes
were still full of worry.
“You are not happy to hear this news?” asked Jibril.
“Tell me about the destiny of my people in future?”

“Don’t worry, o Rasul ALLAH . I heard ALLAH told me: ‘I make Jannat haram
for every one, except the people of Muhammad”Jibril said.

It became closer and closer, the time for Malaekat Izrail to do his work.
Slowly, Rasulullah’s soul was pulled. It was seemed that the body of Rasulullah was full of sweat; the nerves of his neck became tight.
“Jibril, how pain this sakaratul maut is!”

Rasulullah uttered a groan slowly. Fatimah closed her eyes, Ali sat beside her bow deeply and Jibril turned his face back.

“Am I repugnant to you that you turn your face back o Jibril?”

Rasulullah asked to the Deliverer of Wahyu.

“Who is the one who could see the Habibullah in his sakaratul maut,” Jibril said.

Not for a while, Rasulullah uttered a groan because of unbearable
pain.

“O ALLAH, how greatest is this sakaratul maut. Give me all these pains,
don’t to my people.”

The body of Rasulullah became cold, his feet and chest did not move anymore.

His lips vibrated as if he wanted to say something, Ali took his ear close to Rasulullah .
"Take care the saalat and take care the weak people among you.”

Outside the room, there were cries shouted at each other, sahabah held each other. Fatimah closed her face with her hands and, again, Ali took his ear close to Rasulullah’s lips which became bluish.

“Ummatii, ummatii, ummatii?” – “My people, my people, my people.”
And the life of the noble man ended.

Could we love each other like him? Allahumma sholli ‘ala Muhammad
wa baarik wa salim ‘alaihi. How deep is Rasulullah’s love to us.

Note:
Send this to all your Muslim friends so that the awareness to love
ALLAH and Rasulullah.

Don’t worry if people hate you because there are many others who
love and
care for you on the earth. But be worry if ALLAH hates you because
there is no
other who loves and cares for you in akhirat

Happiness Is Not Easy ?

In our culture, it is commonly believed that happiness is achieved when you become rich, powerful, or popular. The young want to be that popular pop idol, the old dream of winning the jackpot. We often seek happiness by removing all stress, sadness, and irritations. For some, happiness lies in mood-altering therapies. Eva Moskowitz, a historian, gives some idea of the American obsession with the gospel of therapy: “Today, this obsession knows no bounds…there are more than 260 [different kinds of] 12-step programs in America.”

One reason we have so much trouble attaining happiness is that we have no idea about what it is. Consequently, we make poor judgments in life. An Islamic tale illustrates the relationship of judgment with happiness.

“Oh, great sage, Nasrudin,” said
the eager student, “I must ask you a
very important question, the answer
to which we all seek: What is the
secret to attaining happiness?”

Nasrudin thought for a time,
then responded. “The secret of
happiness is good judgment.”

“Ah,” said the student. “But how
do we attain good judgment?

“From experience,” answered
Nasrudin.

“Yes,” said the student. “But how
do we attain experience?’

“Bad judgment.”

An example of our good judgment is knowing that materialistic comforts by themselves do not lead to lasting happiness. Having reached that conclusion by our good judgment, we do not retreat into our comforts. We continue to crave a happiness that seems out of reach.
We make more money thinking that is the way to become happy, and in the process neglect our family. Most big events we dream of yield less sustained happiness than we hoped for.

In addition to getting less happiness than we expected or hoped for, we frequently do not know exactly what we want, what will make us happy or how to get it. We misjudge.

Enduring happiness does not come from ‘making it.’ Imagine someone could snap their fingers and give you fame, fortune, and leisure. Would you be happy? You would be euphoric, but in the short run. Gradually you would adapt to your new circumstance and life would return to its normal mix of emotions. Studies show that big lottery winners after a few months are no happier than the average person! To recover the joy, you would now need an even higher high.

Consider, too, how we have “made it.” In 1957, our per-person income, expressed in today’s dollars, was less than $8,000. Today it is $16,000. With doubled incomes, we now have double the material goods that money can buy - including twice as many cars per person. We also have microwave ovens, color TVs, VCRs, answering machines, and $12 billion a year worth of brand-name athletic shoes.

So are we happier? No. In 1957, 35 percent of Americans told the National Opinion Research Center they were “very happy.” In 1991, only 31 percent said the same.Meanwhile, depression rates have soared.

God’s Prophet of Mercy said:

“True enrichment does not come through possessing a lot of wealth, but true enrichment is the enrichment of the soul.” (Saheeh Al-Bukhari)

Unanswered Calls

It is reported that Ibrahim b. Adham (d162H) – Allah have mercy on him – once passed through the market of Basrah. People gathered around him and asked:

O Abu Ishaq, Allah the Exalted says in his Book. ‘Call on me, I will answer your prayers’, but we have been calling on Him for a long time and He does not answer our prayers. [Ibrahim] replied, “O people of Basrah, your hearts have died in respect to ten things:

1- You know Allah but you do not give Him His rights;

2- You have read Allah’s Book but you do not act by it;

3- You claim to love Allah’s Messenger – Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him – yet you abandon his Sunnah;

4- You claim to be enemies to Shaytan but you conform to [his ways];

5-You say you love Paradise yet you do not work for it;

6-You say you fear The Fire yet you put yourselves closer to it [by sinning];

7- You say death is true but you do not prepare for it;

8- You busy yourselves with the faults of others and disregard your own;

9-You consume the favors of your Lord but are not grateful for them; and

10- You bury your dead but take no lesson from them.”
Abû Nu’aym, Hilyah Al-Awliyâ’ 8: 15, 16.

Morning Tazkirah V

If we can learn to depend on Allah with due reliance, He will certainly give us provisions as He gives to the birds who leave their nests in the mornings and return with full bellies at dusk.

But what do we need in order to achieve this? We must have firm belief that only Allah can help and benefit us.

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Whoever wishes to be strong should rely on Allah."

Allah the Almighty says: [Victory will be yours; but on Allah put your trust if you have faith.] (Al Maidah, 5:23 )

These words give us strength to face hardships and difficult people. But at the same time as depending on Allah, we must exert effort and use all the material resources provided by Allah. If we do so we will be obeying His orders. When we sincerely depend on Allah we feel tranquility in our hearts because we know that Allah is on our side. We should try to detach ourselves from always seeking material things and keep in mind that no harm or benefit comes to us without the permission of Allah.

Umar ibn Al-Khattab (peace be upon him) told us about the birds and how they wake up in the early morning, glorify Allah and go in search of food, (they exert effort) trust in Allah and find sustenance.

You may think it strange that birds glorify Allah but the Almighty says in the Qur'an:

[The seven heavens and the earth, and all beings therein, declare His glory: There is not a thing but celebrates His praise; and yet you understand not how they declare His glory! Verily, He is the Oft-Forgiving, Most Forgiving.] (Al-Isra', 17:44)

Even the prophets worked and so did the Companions of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), but they all trusted in Allah in every aspect of life.

When Ibrahim (peace be upon him) was being thrown into the fire, the angel Jibreel (peace be upon him) asked him, 'Do you need anything?'

But Ibrahim answered, 'Nothing from you. Allah knows my condition (status)."

Another time, Ibrahim (peace be upon him) took his wife Hajar and his son Isma'il to a place near Makkah.

Allah the Almighty ordered Ibrahim to leave them in the desert, and when Hajar saw him leaving her she wanted to know if it was an order from Allah. Ibrahim answered, 'Yes'. So she put her trust in Allah and was sure that He would take care of them. Indeed, all help and power are from Allah. Trust in Him! His promise is true.

Never Ever Giving Up

Life is hard. No objection. Even walking in snow is hard. Lol. But please never ever giving up. Rabbi Yassir Wa La Tu'assir. I keep repeating those prayers when I'm in hard times.

Most of us only can recall bad things in our life faster than good things. That's what my lecturer told us. As bad things giving us hard times for us to survive and they remain unforgettable.

But do remember, it takes twenty years to become and overnight success. So please never give up...

Henry Ford failed and went broke five times before he finally succeeded.

Beethoven handled the violin awkwardly and preferred playing his own compositions instead of improving his technique. His teacher called him hopeless as a composer.

Walt Disney was fired by a newspaper editor for lack of ideas. Disney also went bankrupt several times before he built Disneyland.

Albert Einstein did not speak until he was four years old and didn’t read until he was seven. His teacher described him as “mentally slow, unsociable and adrift forever in his foolish dreams.” He was expelled and refused admittance to Zurich Polytechnic School. The University of Bern turned down his Ph.D. dissertation as being irrelevant and fanciful.

Everybody is at home... whole family is there. My mom said 24-hours daily is not enough ! She went out to market in morning seeking for groceries and came back, baking some cookies for the big day... I wish I could help her :(

The Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said:

Snowstorm -Metel

Me and my friends stopped at park, for taking pictures. hehe

Yesterday, when me and my friends were on the way back to our hostel, our bus got stucked in the heavy traffic jam due to heavy snowing since last two days. It was getting heavier, resulting cars, busses all trasport stucked on the road and caused some accidents. It was the worst snowstorm since I've been living here for almost six years. All those snows were on my eyebrows and face! Lol

The four malaysian boys helped the bus driver, pushing the bus for almost half an hour, but still seemed not working. Then we decided to walk to our hostel which took about an hour and half. Really it was hard enough to walk while snow almost reaching till our knees, plus snow falling endlessly. It's a life time experience. he...Come, let's see some pictures.

I would never deny how influential the Chief Minister of my state, Dato' Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat could be. He is our idol, our leader, our saviour and the example of a great leader. He would never give up in his Jihad to rule out this country of Malaysia as a fully Islamic country based solely from Hadith and the Holy Quran.

Even some might say we are very fanatic with our leader, I would say it's nothing wrong with that. It's his path that we need to follow. The scholars are those people that we need to obey after The Almighty God, Rasulullah (pbuh) and his companions.

Even they keep accusing him this and that, trying to push him away from his position, we know that he not even tremble. As he always with the Almighty God. It's for the Lord, he's ruling and living.

I still remember how my parents brought us to go to his weekly religious speech every Friday since we were small. And it's still continue till now.( He still not stop giving this weekly speech about 19 years. Wonderful, isn't it?) It's the most holy day of the week, where we spend listening to his ideas, reminders and suggestions which never go beyond the path of Rasulullah and the Holy Quran that bring us the unity as an Ummah.

As I saw him today in the top 50 list from the The World Most Influential Muslims, I smiled. He is one of them... even better from some of them.. and I doubt that I would ever meet such a leader again in future. To Tok Guru, my congrats ! We're always behind you.

H1N1 Outbreaks : 3 Weeks Holidays

Flu, respiratory infections already killed 155 people over here in Ukraine. This is really shocking. All schools and campus are closed for three weeks, including mine, for quarantine. We just sitting in hostel hardly going out. Only for buying some groceries nearby.

As days get colder, this virus could easily transmitted from one to another, especially to those who already having any respiratory diseases.

To dear readers, never miss to have warm lemonade daily or Vitamin C tablets. It's really good to preserve the immunity against this infection besides wearing thick clothes and mask outside. I hope none of us would catch cold in this winter.

Misconception 7:
Muslims don't believe in Jesus or any other prophets.

The Truth:

Muslims respect and revere Jesus(Peace Be Upon Him), and await his Second Coming. They consider him one of the greatest of God's messengers to mankind. A Muslim never refers to him simply as 'Jesus', but always adds the phrase (Peace Be Upon Him) (abbreviated as (P.B.U.H.) here). The Noble Qur'an confirms his virgin birth (a chapter of the Qur'an is entitled 'Mary'), and Mary is considered the purest woman in all creation.

The Qur'an describes the Annunciation as follows:
"Behold!" the Angel said, 'God has chosen you, and purified you, and chosen you above the women of all nations. O Mary, God gives you good news of a word from Him whose name shall be the Messiah, Jesus son of Mary, honoured in this world and the Hereafter, and one of those brought near to God. He shall speak to the people from his cradle and in maturity, and shall be of the righteous.' She said: 'O my Lord! How shall I have a son when no man has touched me?' He said: "Even so; God creates what He will. When He decrees a thing, He says to it, "Be!" and it is." (Qur'an, 3:42-47 ) .

Jesus (P.B.U.H.) was born miraculously through the same power which had brought Adam (P.B.U.H.) into being without a father:

"Truly, the likeness of Jesus with God is as the likeness of Adam. He created him of dust, and then said to him, 'Be!' and he was." (Qur'an, 3:59 ) .

During his prophetic mission Jesus (P.B.U.H.) performed many miracles. The Qur'an tells us that he said:
"I have come to you with a sign from your Lord: I make for you out of clay, as it were, the figure of a bird, and breathe into it and it becomes a bird by God's leave. And I heal the blind, and the lepers, and I raise the dead by God's leave." (Qur'an, 3:49 ).

Neither Muhammad (P.B.U.H.) nor Jesus (P.B.U.H.) came to change the basic doctrine of the belief in One God brought by earlier prophets, but to confirm and renew it. In the Noble Qur'an Jesus (P.B.U.H.) is reported as saying that he came:
"To attest the Torah which was before me. And to make lawful to you part of what was forbidden unto you; I have come to you with a sign from your Lord, so fear God and obey me." (Qur'an, 3:50 ) .

The Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H.) said: Whoever believes that there is no god but Allah, alone without partner, that Muhammad (P.B.U.H.) is His messenger, that Jesus (P.B.U.H.) is the servant and messenger of God, His word breathed into Mary and a spirit emanating from Him, and that Paradise and Hell are true, Allah will make him enter Paradise."

Misconception 8:
Muhammad was the founder of Islam and Muslims worship him.

The Truth:

Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) was born in Makkah in the year 570. Since his father died before his birth and his mother shortly afterwards, he was raised by his uncle from the respected tribe of Quraysh. As he grew up, he became known for his truthfulness, generosity and sincerity, so that he was sought after for his ability to arbitrate in disputes.

The historians describe him as calm and meditative. Muhammad (P.B.U.H.) was of a deeply religious nature, and had long detested the decadence of his society. It became his habit to meditate from time to time in the Cave of Hira near Makkah. At the age of 40, while engaged in a meditative retreat, Muhammad (P.B.U.H.) received his first revelation from God through the Angel Gabriel. This revelation, which continued for 23 years, is known as the Noble Qur'an.

As soon as he began to recite the words he heard from Gabriel, and to preach the truth which God had revealed to him, he and his small group of followers suffered bitter persecution, which grew so fierce that in the year 622 God gave them the command to emigrate. This event, the Hijra 'migration', in which they left Makkah for the city of Medina, marks the beginning of the Muslim calendar. After several years, the Prophet and his followers were able to return to Makkah, where they forgave their enemies and established Islam definitively.

Before the Prophet died at the age of 63, the greater part of Arabia was Muslim, and within a century of his death Islam had spread to Spain in the West and as far East as China. He died with less than 5 possessions to his name. While Muhammad (P.B.U.H.) was chosen to deliver the message, he is not considered the "founder" of Islam, since Muslims consider Islam to be the same divine guidance sent to all peoples before. Muslims believe that all the prophets from Adam, Noah, Moses, Jesus etc. were all sent with divine guidance for their peoples.

Every prophet was sent to his own people, but Muhammad (P.B.U.H.) was sent to all of mankind. Muhammad (P.B.U.H.) is the last and final messenger sent to deliver the message of Islam. Muslims revere and honour him (P.B.U.H.) for all he went through and his dedication, but they do not worship him.

"O Prophet, verily We have sent you as a witness and a bearer of glad tidings and a warner and as one who invites unto God by His leave and as an illuminating lamp." (Qur'an, 33:45-6 ) .

Misconception 9:
The Nation of Islam is a Muslim group.

The Truth:

Islam and the so-called "Nation of Islam" are two different religions. Muslims consider this group to be just one of many cults using the name of Islam for their own gain. The only thing common between them is the jargon, the language used by both. "The Nation of Islam" is a misnomer; this religion should be called Farrakhanism, after the name of its propagator, Louis Farrakhan. Islam and Farakhanism differ in many fundamental ways. For example, Farakhan followers believe in racism and that the 'black man' was the original man and therefore superior, while in Islam there is no racism and everyone is considered equal in the sight of God, the only difference being in one's piety.

There are many other theological examples that show the 'Nation's teachings have little to do with true Islam. There are many groups in America, which claim to represent Islam and call their adherents Muslims. Any serious student of Islam has a duty to investigate and find the true Islam. The only two authentic sources that bind every Muslim are 1.the Noble Qur'an and 2. authentic or sound Hadith "Sunnah".

Any teachings under the label of "Islam" which contradict or at variance with the direct understanding of fundamental beliefs and practices of Islam from the Noble Qur'an and authentic Hadith should be rejected, and such a religion should be considered a Pseudo-Islamic Cult.

In America there are many pseudo-Islamic cults, Farrakhanism being one of them. An honest attitude on the part of such cults should be not to call themselves Muslims and their religion Islam. Such an example of honesty is Bahaism, which is an offshoot of Islam, but Bahais do not call themselves Muslims nor their religion, Islam. In fact Bahaism is not Islam just as Farrakhanism is not Islam.

Misconception 10:
Muslims are a barbaric, backward people.
The Truth:

Among the reasons for the rapid and peaceful spread of Islam was the simplicity of its doctrine. Islam calls for faith in only One God worthy of worship. It also repeatedly instructs man to use his powers of intelligence and observation.

Within a few years, great civilizations and universities were flourishing, for, according to the Prophet (P.B.U.H.), "Seeking knowledge is an obligation for every Muslim 'Male & Female'" The synthesis of Eastern and Western ideas and of new thought with old, brought about great advances in medicine, mathematics, physics, astronomy, geography, architecture, art, literature, and history.

Many crucial systems such as algebra, the Arabic numerals, and also the concept of the zero (vital to the advancement of mathematics), were transmitted to medieval Europe from Islam. Sophisticated instruments, which were to make possible the European voyages of discovery, were developed, including the astrolabe, the quadrant and good navigational maps.

Misconceptions About Islam II

Misconception 4:
Muslims worship a different God.

The Truth:

Allah is simply the Arabic word for God. Allah for Muslims is the greatest and most inclusive of the Names of God, it is an Arabic word of rich meaning, denoting the One and Only God and ascribing no partners to Him. It is exactly the same word which the Jews, in Hebrew, use for God (Eloh), the word which Jesus Christ used in Aramaic when he prayed to God. God has an identical name in Judaism, Christianity, and Islam; Allah is the same God worshiped by Muslims, Christians and Jews. Muslims believe that Allah's sovereignty is to be acknowledged in worship and in the pledge to obey His teachings and commandments, conveyed through His messengers and prophets who were sent at various times and in many places throughout history.

Misconception 5:
Islam was spread by the sword and is intolerant of other faiths.

The Truth:

Many social studies textbooks for students show the image of an Arab horseman carrying a sword in one hand and the Qur'an in the other conquering and forcibly converting. This, though, is not a correct portrayal of history. Islam has always given respect and freedom of religion to all faiths. The Noble Qur'an says:
"God forbids you not, with regards to those who fight you not for (your) faith nor drive you out of your homes, from dealing kindly and justly with them; for God loveth those who are just."
(Qur'an, 60:8 ) .
Freedom of religion is laid down in the Noble Qur'an itself: "There is no compulsion (or coercion) in the religion (Islam). The right direction is distinctly clear from error." (Qur'an, 2:256 ) .

Christian missionary, T.W. Arnold had this opinion on his study of the question of the spread of Islam: .". of any organized attempt to force the acceptance of Islam on the non-Muslim population, or of any systematic persecution intended to stamp out the Christian religion, we hear nothing. Had the caliphs chosen to adopt either course of action, they might have swept away Christianity as easily as Ferdinand and Isabella drove Islam out of Spain, or Louis XIV made Protestantism ..."

It is a function of Islamic law to protect the privileged status of minorities, and this is why non-Muslim places of worship have flourished all over the Islamic world. History provides many examples of Muslim tolerance towards other faiths: when the caliph Omar entered Jerusalem in the year 634, Islam granted freedom of worship to all religious communities in the city. Proclaiming to the inhabitants that their lives, and property were safe, and that their places of worship would never be taken from them, he asked the Christian patriarch Sophronius to accompany him on a visit to all the holy places. Islamic law also permits non-Muslim minorities to set up their own courts, which implement family laws drawn up by the minorities themselves. The life and property of all citizens in an Islamic state are considered sacred whether the person is Muslim or not. Racism is not a part of Islam, the Noble Qur'an speaks only of human equality and how all peoples are equal in the sight of God:

"O mankind! We created you from a single soul, male and female, and made you into nations and tribes, so that you may come to know one another. Truly, the most honoured of you in God's sight is the greatest of you in piety. God is All-Knowing, All- Aware." (Qur'an, 49:13 ).

Misconception 6:
All Muslims are Arabs.

The Truth:

The Muslim population of the world is around 1.4 billion. 1 out of 4 people in the world is a Muslim. Islam is the fastest growing religion in the World. Muslims are a vast range of races, nationalities, and cultures from around the globe "from the Philippines to Nigeria" they are united by their common Islamic faith. Only about 18% live in the Arab world and the largest Muslim community is in Indonesia. Most Muslims live east of Pakistan. 30% of Muslims live in the Indian subcontinent, 20% in Sub-Saharan Africa, 17% in Southeast Asia, 18% in the Arab world, and 10% in the Soviet Union and China. Turkey, Iran and Afghanistan make up 10% of the non-Arab Middle East. Although there are Muslim minorities in almost every area, including Latin America and Australia, they are most numerous in Russia and its newly independent states, India and central Africa. There are about 8 million Muslims in the United States.

Misconception 1:

Islam Oppresses Women

The Truth :

The image of the typical Muslim woman wearing the veil and forced to stay home and forbidden to drive is all too common in most people’s thoughts. Although some Muslim countries may have laws that oppresses women, this should not be seen as coming from Islam. Many of these countries do not rule by any kind of Shari’ah (Islamic Divine Law) and introduce their own cultural standpoints on the issue of gender equity.

Islam on the other hand gives men and women different roles and equity between the two is laid down in the Noble Quran and the example of the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh). Islam sees a woman, wether single or married as an individual in her own right, with the right to own and dispose of her property and earnings.

A marriage gift is given by the groom to the bride for her own personal use, and she keeps her own family name rather than her husband’s. Both men and women are expected to dress in a way which is modest and dignified.

The Messenger of God, Muhammad (pbuh) said : “The most perfect in faith amongst believers is who is best in manner and kindest to his wife”

Violence of any kind towards women and forcing them against their will for anything is not allowed. A Muslim marriage is a simple, legal agreement in which either partner is free to include conditions. Marriage customs thus vary widely from country to country. Divorce is not common, although it is acceptable as a last resort.

According to Islam, a Muslim girl cannot be forced to marry against her will : her parents simply suggest young men they think may be suitable.

Misconception 2 :
Muslim are violent, terrorists and extremists !

The Truth :

This is the biggest misconceptions in Islam, no doubt resulting from the constant stereotyping and bashing the media gives to Islam. When a gunman attacks a mosque in the name of Judaism, a Chatolic IRA guerilla sets off a bomb in an urban area, or Serbian Orthodox militiamen rape and kill innocent Muslim civilians, these acts are not used to stereotype an entire faith. Never are these acts attributed to the religion of perpetrators. Yet how many times have we heard the words ‘Islamic, Muslim fundamentalist, etc’ linked with violence. Politics in the so called “Muslim countries” may or may not have any Islamic basis. Often dictators and politicians will use the name of Islam for their own purposes.

One should remember to go to the source of Islam and separate what the true religion of Islam says from what is portrayed in the media. Islam literally means ‘submission to God’ and is derived from a root word meaning ‘peace’.

Islam may seem exotic or even extreme in the modern world. Perhaps this is because religion does not dominate everyday life in the West, whereas Islam is considered a ‘way of life’ for Muslims and they make no division between secular and sacred in their lives.

Like Christianity, Islam permits fighting in self-defense; in defense of religion, or on the part of those who have been expelled forcibly from their homes. It lays down strict rules of combat which include prohibitions against harming civilians and against destroying crops, trees and livestock.

Nowhere does Islam enjoin the killing of innocents…

The Noble Qur’an says :
“Fight in the cause of God against those who fight you, but do no transgress limits. God does not love transgressors.” (Qur’an, 2:190)

“If they seek peace, then seek you peace. And trust in God for He is the All-Hearer, the All-Knower” ( Qur’an 8:61)

War, therefore is the last resort, and is subject to the rigorous conditions laid down by the sacred law. The term Jihad literally means struggle. Muslims believe that there are two kinds of jihad. The other Jihad is the inner stuggle of the soul, which everyone wages against egoistic desires for the sake of attaining inner peace.

Misconception 3 :
All Muslim women marry four wives.

The Truth :

The religion of Islam was revealed for all societies and all times and so accomodates widely differing social requirements. Circumstances may warrant the taking of another wife but the right is granted, according to the Noble Quran, only on the condition that the husband is scrupulously fair. No woman can be forced into this kind of marriage if they do not wish it.

Polygamy is neither mandatory, nor encouraged, but merely permitted. Images of "shaikhs with harems" are not consistent with Islam, as a man is only allowed at most four wives only if he can fulfill the stringent conditions of treating each fairly and providing each with separate housing etc.

Permission to practice polygay is not associated with mere satisfaction of passion. It is rather associated with compassion toward widows and orphans. It was the Noble Quran that limited and put conditions on the practice of polygamy among the Arabs, who had as many as ten or more wives and considered them as 'property'.

It is both honest and accurate to say that it is Islam that regulated this practice, limited it, made it more humane, and instituted equal rights and status for all wives. It is a very tiny percentage of Muslims that practice it over the world. However, permission to practice limited polygamy is only consistent with Islam's realistic views of the nature of man and woman and of various social needs, problems and cultural variations.

The question is, however far more than the inherent flexibility of Islam; it also is the frank and straightforward approach of Islam in dealing with practical problems. Rather then requiring hypocritical and superficial compliance, Islam delves deeper into the problems of individuals and societies, and provides more legitimate and clean solutions that are far more beneficial than would be the case if they were ignored.

There is no doubt that the second wife legally married and treated kindly is better off than a mistress without any legal rights.

We spend most of our times planning for the future and regretting the past.

If only I didn't do it...
I wish I coud turn back the time...
Bring my life back..
It's too late now...

We keep repeating those words. A patient of incurable disease once said "People shouldn't dwell on the past. It's enough to try your best in all that you are doing now."

There are still hopes.. Just do your best as future just begins..

A Litre of Tears

A must-see Japanese drama series, based on the true story, 'one litre of tears' really made me endlessly weeping. Aya Kito (19 July 1962 - 23 May 1988), a Japanese girl who wrote a diary about her experience with incurable disease of spinocerebellar atrophy.

Her diary, titled '1 Litre of Tears' was published shortly before her death and later adopted into a television drama of the 1 Litre no Namida and the film A Litre of Tears.

Once, when me and a friend passed by some pretty girls, she asked me " Why God makes them so beautiful, and others not. It is unfair."

I smiled...deeply thinking how to answer her. "Every one of us, has our very own speciality and weakness. God is fair. Even you notice it or not, no doubt about it. Some of us are not pretty, but having good brain. Some of them are pretty, but may be they are limited in capability or chance."

"Plus, we shouldn't differ ourselves with those who are superior than us. If not, we will never be grateful for what we are, and we will never be happy. Instead we should compare us with those inferior than us. We are lucky for we are healthy. what about those who are sick, untreatable, poor, having no food to eat, even having disease incurable. Be thankful for what we are, then only God would gives us more. " I replied her. She smiled feeling guilty for having bad thought about God.

This drama series remind me of this incidence.
